Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a vital caregiver responsible for managing a group of patients over a specified timeframe. This role involves delivering care through the application of the nursing process, utilizing current nursing trends, technology, and available resources while adhering to the institution's philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:- Execute all duties and responsibilities as defined by the unit's scope of service.
- Apply procedures and theories pertinent to the area of practice.
- Maintain precise and current documentation of nursing care to ensure seamless information integration for the healthcare team.
- Conduct initial assessments upon patient admission and formulate a suitable care plan based on patient and family needs.
- Implement the care plan, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
- Adjust the care plan based on ongoing evaluations.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
- Engage in direct communication to resolve issues effectively.
- Provide constructive feedback to support the professional growth of peers and collaborate with colleagues to enhance knowledge.
- Recognize personal learning needs and proactively seek solutions.
- Meet all departmental competency requirements.
- Oversee care for patients with acute and chronic cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
- Collaboratively establish patient care goals and develop care plans with patients and families.
- Administer medications and evaluate their effects as necessary.
- Prepare patients for procedures, manage pain, perform IV venipuncture, administer blood, and monitor laboratory results.
- Facilitate patient discharges and provide instructions for safe transitions from the hospital.
- Document all care activities using electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ensure team huddles are conducted regularly.
- Evaluate patient conditions consistently.
- Delegate tasks with appropriate follow-up.
- Respond to call lights promptly.
- Ensure basic patient care tasks are performed according to established standards.
- Manage conflicts effectively.
- Maintain professional communication with all team members.
