Job Summary/Basic Function

The College of Liberal Arts at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for Director of the School of Music (position #131005) at the rank of associate professor or professor. The successful candidate will demonstrate the skills needed to manage daily operations while focusing on long-range plans to sustain the growth and excellence associated with MTSU's School of Music.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative leadership to development, personnel management, NASM accreditation standards and processes, student recruitment, student success, and tangible efforts to promote diversity, broadly defined.
  • Coordinate budgets, facilitate planning and assessment, and advocate for the arts on campus and beyond.
  • Lead the School of Music, overseeing daily operations and long-term planning to ensure the growth and excellence of the program.
Requirements
  • A terminal degree in music or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
  • Applicants with prior administrative, recruitment, and fundraising experience will receive special consideration.
