Job Overview

In the capacity of the foremost technical authority for GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation's Marine Engines & Systems division, the Senior Marine Applications Engineer serves as the primary representative for all technical solutions related to naval and marine gas turbine systems. This pivotal position acts as the reliable source of expertise concerning gas turbine systems integration, interface management, installation design, product performance, life cycle cost analysis, marine fuel assessment, and equipment testing and certification for shipbuilders, marine clients, and naval architects.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties
  • Deliver technical insights and formulate solutions (configuration, performance assessment, maritime regulations, naval propulsion operations, etc.) during the capture process while collaborating with the commercial team.
  • Oversee the technical evaluation of client requirements: defining and optimizing products; establishing scope; scheduling; industrial planning; and cost analysis, in alignment with contractual and internal policies. This includes calculating performance and efficiency metrics for plants, systems, and equipment, as well as documenting technical specifications and cost elements for subsequent contract execution phases.
  • Collaborate with Marine systems engineers to devise technical solutions tailored to the specific needs of the Customer's vessel and propulsion plant. Topics may encompass unique interface requirements, non-standard performance requests, compliance with military and commercial specifications, and integration concerns regarding intake, exhaust, and ventilation, as well as gas turbine auxiliary and support system integration.
  • Spearhead the development and assessment of propulsion plant trade studies and provide technical responses for all Customer Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in conjunction with the Sales team.
  • Act as a technical expert representing the Marine Engines & Systems division, offering professional or thought leadership within the industry. Influence internal and external policies and ensure delivery within the scope of responsibility, coordinating with other organizational segments.
  • Recognize internal and external business challenges and propose best practices to enhance products, processes, or services. Leverage industry trend insights to guide decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience in maritime propulsion, gas turbine technology, maritime systems, and/or maritime customer engagement (commercial and/or military).
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
Desired Qualifications
  • Leadership experience in military or commercial ship environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Maritime Law.
  • Subject Matter Expert in Marine Propulsion Systems.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead programs and projects effectively.
  • Established skills in project management.
