Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodial Assistant to join our team at Los Nietos Middle School. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and seal floors to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Vacuum carpet, dust, wash, and polish furniture and woodwork to ensure a clean and well-maintained space
  • Empty and clean waste receptacles, including trash barrels, to prevent odors and pests
  • Clean restrooms, locker rooms, and showers to maintain a clean and hygienic environment
  • Wash windows and walls to ensure a clean and well-maintained exterior
  • Polish metal work and clean chalkboards to maintain a clean and organized space
  • Clean window coverings, such as drapes and blinds, to ensure a clean and well-maintained space
  • Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walkways, and adjacent areas to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to buildings to prevent damage and maintain a clean environment
  • Perform emergency clean-up services resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling, and illness to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Move and arrange furniture and equipment to prepare multi-purpose rooms or classrooms for special events or meetings
  • Assist in receiving and distributing supplies and equipment to ensure a well-stocked and organized space
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks to keep assigned areas safe and operational
Requirements
  • Knowledge of cleaning materials, disinfectants, and equipment used in custodial work
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Ability to make minor technical repairs and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • High School graduation or equivalent
