SUMMARY:

The individual will serve as a physician member of the healthcare team, delivering high-quality medical services to all patients while adhering to the established standards of care specific to the specialty. The physician will also play a crucial role within the healthcare team at the facility.



QUALIFICATIONS:
The staff physician must possess a valid medical license to practice in the State of Louisiana along with a current DEA license. Board eligibility or certification in a primary care specialty is required. CPR certification is highly recommended.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
A medical degree from an accredited institution or a DO degree from an approved osteopathic school is required. Completion of a residency program for board eligibility is necessary; board certification is preferred. A valid Louisiana medical license and DEA license must be maintained. The candidate should demonstrate a solid understanding of medical practice principles relevant to the specialty and show sensitivity to the diverse cultural and economic backgrounds of patients. Equal emphasis must be placed on health maintenance and disease prevention as well as treatment and recovery. Participation in the Center's provider staff meetings, general staff activities, and Quality Assurance is expected. Proficiency in using Centricity/EMR and the ability to create accurate and complete medical records promptly is essential. Compliance with NCQA, JCAHO, and SWLA Center for Health Services EMR requirements must be met within the designated time frames.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold patient rights. Display punctuality and reliable attendance. Communicate effectively with patients to meet their expectations. Conduct examinations to identify diseases and establish preventive health practices.

Maintain clinical tracking data to ensure continuity of care. Assist the Medical Director in planning, managing, and evaluating healthcare delivery at the SWLA Center for Health Services. Provide continuous care by obtaining hospital privileges and emergency room coverage. Actively engage in local, state, and national medical associations and societies.

Participate in quality assurance patient review committees. Document medical records using the POMR system. Collect relevant data for clinical decision-making. Maintain up-to-date medical records and develop individual work plans. Conduct periodic formal assessments and reviews of subordinate performance. Promote health by advising patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention methods. Participate in community education, staff in-service training, and committee meetings. Exercise judgment to prevent delays in service provision and mitigate serious adverse impacts on patient health status. Contribute to the SWLA Center for Health Services infection control program. Assist in other departments or centers affiliated with SWLA Center for Health Services as needed. Serve as the laboratory supervisor for the on-site clinic laboratory. Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of clinical training and experience. Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners within the same department.
