About the Role

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Psychiatrist to join our Student Health Center team. As a key member of our mental health team, you will provide direct, outpatient, ambulatory patient care, including psychiatric consultations and facilitating hospitalizations.

This is a part-time position, working 24 hours per week, with full benefits. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatry, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with young adults.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to students with mental health concerns
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of Psychiatry Residency at an ACGME-accredited program
  • Current license to practice medicine in the State of California
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Active and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of direct patient care experience after completing accredited residency training in medicine
  • Ability to work in a systems-of-care model
  • Strong knowledge of early adolescent and transitional age youth/emerging adult population psychiatric treatment
