Job SummaryAs a Patient Service Representative at Advocate Aurora Health, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth experience from registration to visit closure.
Key Responsibilities- Register patients, obtain demographic and insurance information, and verify insurance coverage
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and previous balances, and post payments
- Schedule new and follow-up patient appointments, and coordinate cancellations, reschedules, and additions to schedules
- Provide accurate and detailed information regarding test preparations, arrival times, and directional information
- Update insurance, financial responsibility, and other data when changes or additions occur, and communicate with patients as appropriate
- Ensure insurance and patient information is complete and accurate, applying knowledge of government and third-party payer requirements
- Identify, report, and resolve problems regarding registration to appropriate individuals and departments
- Monitor patient flow to ensure efficient and courteous care, and offer assistance with transportation, directions, and other needs
- Perform visit closure, including checking out patients, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing visit summaries
- May file, retrieve, and/or deliver patient information and/or records, and complete required forms/documentation
- High School Graduate
- No experience required
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office or similar applications
- Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, and to sort and file information alphabetically and numerically
