Job Summary

As a Patient Service Representative at Advocate Aurora Health, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth experience from registration to visit closure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register patients, obtain demographic and insurance information, and verify insurance coverage
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and previous balances, and post payments
  • Schedule new and follow-up patient appointments, and coordinate cancellations, reschedules, and additions to schedules
  • Provide accurate and detailed information regarding test preparations, arrival times, and directional information
  • Update insurance, financial responsibility, and other data when changes or additions occur, and communicate with patients as appropriate
  • Ensure insurance and patient information is complete and accurate, applying knowledge of government and third-party payer requirements
  • Identify, report, and resolve problems regarding registration to appropriate individuals and departments
  • Monitor patient flow to ensure efficient and courteous care, and offer assistance with transportation, directions, and other needs
  • Perform visit closure, including checking out patients, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing visit summaries
  • May file, retrieve, and/or deliver patient information and/or records, and complete required forms/documentation
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • No experience required
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office or similar applications
  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, and to sort and file information alphabetically and numerically
