Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Custody Recommending Counselor to join our team at the Stanislaus County Superior Court. As a key member of our Family Court Services department, you will play a critical role in mediating disputes between parents regarding custody and visitation of their children.
Responsibilities:
- Mediate disputes between parents regarding custody and visitation of children
- Consult with attorneys regarding the case
- Interview children and other family members
- Consult with other involved professionals regarding the case
- Conduct Court-ordered child custody evaluations under California Rules of Court, Rule 5.220, as assigned
- Prepare written agreements or other reports
- Make recommendations when there is no agreement between parents
- Testify in court and/or consult with judicial officers and attorneys regarding agreements or recommendations
Requirements:
- Master's degree from an accredited college and/or university in social work, marriage, family and child counseling, or other behavioral sciences substantially related to marriage and family interpersonal relationships
- Three years of full-time experience in counseling, psychotherapy, or both, preferably with families and children
- State-issued certification as a licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed clinical social worker, or licensed psychologist
