Tact Staff is seeking a skilled CT Technologist for a travel assignment in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
Job Responsibilities- Perform complex CT procedures and related techniques to produce high-quality images for interpretation.
- Review and obtain patient clinical history for procedures, ensuring accurate documentation and scanning into PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients and/or family members, scanning into EPIC.
- Identify and/or administer contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
- Verify patient prescriptions for appropriateness of exams and communicate with Radiologists and Referring Physicians as needed.
- Responsible for calling physicians to clarify prescriptions in accordance with CT protocols.
- Verify insurance authorized exam scripts and send exam modification forms to Finance for outside studies.
- Provide exam copies to patients and requesting physicians and/or family members.
- Evaluate radiographs using PACS System to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value.
- Use consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from medical records, significant others, and healthcare providers for scanning and patient safety.
- Collect information based on patient needs or condition.
- Prep patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization devices.
- Determine appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered.
- Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients at any appropriate time and level of understanding.
- Address and document patient questions and concerns regarding procedures.
- Monitor patients' physical conditions for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Responsible for scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends, and overtime as needed for quality patient care.
- Adhere to Department of Radiology policy for on-call assignments.
- Meet organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning of the human body.
- Understanding of mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware.
- Thorough knowledge of PACS system.
- Maintain CEU Credits.
- ARRT (CT) certification within 12 months of hire.
- Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 3 months of hire.
- Six months CT experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Epic and any HIS/RIS system added by the hospital.
