Job Summary:
The Academic Counselor will provide academic, career, and retention counseling to students in the TRIO Student Support Services program. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other TRIO staff and support personnel to develop and implement individual student academic plans, provide workshops on financial aid and financial literacy, and assist with outreach initiatives to students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide academic, career, and retention counseling to TRIO students
- Develop and implement individual student academic plans
- Provide workshops on financial aid and financial literacy
- Assist with outreach initiatives to students
- Work collaboratively with other TRIO staff and support personnel
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Education, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, or closely related field
- Three years' experience in TRIO or similar programs
- Demonstrated experience working with college students
- Experience with academic planning and advising
- Experience with peer mentoring and tutoring programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education
- Experience with Student Administration software
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Presentation skills
- Experience with group design and facilitation
Salary and Benefits:
$60,212.80/year (Salary based on 11 months); Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full State benefits.
Funding Source:
Grant-funded through August 31, 2025. Continuation after August 31, 2025 is contingent upon funding.
Hours:
37.5 hours/week
