POSITION SUMMARY – Water Safety Attendant: Water Safety Attendants oversee our aquatic attractions, which include kayaks, paddleboards, slides, and floating obstacle courses. They also provide assistance to guests experiencing minor medical situations. Comprehensive training will be offered to all candidates who successfully complete the swim assessment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring the safety of guests and fellow team members.
  • Operate all attractions in a courteous manner while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Communicate and enforce rules, regulations, and policies to maintain guest safety.
  • Monitor assigned areas to identify potential hazards.
  • Perform opening and closing tasks, including basic pool maintenance and attraction readiness checks.
  • Ensure cleanliness and quality of the area, including waste removal and cleaning.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist swimmers in distress.
  • Administer first aid as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may involve supporting different departments.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Must successfully complete the swim assessment and obtain certification from a recognized lifeguard training program.
  • Current lifeguard certification is preferred.
  • Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods, including elevated areas.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience interacting with individuals of various ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long durations outdoors in various weather conditions.

Swim Assessment Details:

  • Completion of a prerequisite swim test is required prior to registration for lifeguard training.
  • Swim 300 yards continuously while demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may use front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination, but swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Goggles are allowed.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs, with hands placed under the armpits.
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards without goggles, with the face allowed to be in or out of the water.
  • Perform a surface dive to retrieve a 10-pound object from a depth of 7 to 10 feet.
  • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point while holding the object and keeping the face near the surface for breathing.
  • Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
