Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

SpaceX is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our EHS team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement environmental policies and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste management programs, including waste characterization, profiling, documenting, reporting, and disposal coordination.
  • Prepare and maintain Spill Prevention Control Countermeasures (SPCC) plans as required.
  • Prevent, control, investigate, and report spills and releases in accordance with various on and offshore jurisdictional requirements.
  • Perform work in an offshore/marine environment.
  • Develop and submit permits and perform inspections, monitoring, and reporting as required by local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Perform inspections, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting as required by local, state, and/or federal air quality regulations.
  • Perform periodic environmental compliance and due diligence audits, including on-air, wastewater, storm water, regulated waste, and/or materials management programs.
  • Perform any federal/state/local required environmental monitoring and reporting as required by environmental mitigation programs that have been agreed to by SpaceX.
  • Review and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and regulations, and provide guidance to management regarding applicability and implementation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in the design, development, and general operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines.
  • Ability to hold and maintain a registered paramedic certification, ALCS, and CPR.
  • Experience in maritime operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience in offshore EHS and paramedic environments.
  • Experience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water.
  • Experience using Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated strong propensity for hands-on work and attention to detail in either academic or career pursuits.
  • Ability to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities, and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate well with technicians, engineers, and management.
  • Ability to work in a high-concentration, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
  • This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Long Beach, CA area.
  • Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours or weekends when needed.
  • Ability to travel extensively to support Recovery operations, which includes ocean-going activities.
  • Ability to lift at least 30 lbs unassisted.
