We are seeking a skilled Emergency Department Technician to join our team at AdventHealth. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.
Responsibilities- Provide basic nursing care to emergency patients, utilizing judgment and skills based on knowledge acquired through training.
- Perform clerical duties and surveillance of arrhythmia monitors.
- Work under the direction of the RN, adhering to established process standards, structure standards, and protocols of the ED.
- Assist with safe and effective patient care as a team member.
- Obtain vital signs, per unit standard, and report findings to RN/physician.
- Collect and label lab specimens.
- Transport patients as directed by the healthcare team.
- Obtain 12 lead EKGs.
- Perform blood glucose monitoring and report findings to RN/physician.
- Remove staples/sutures, apply splints, insert Foleys, or remove heplocks per policy as directed by nurse.
- Monitor cardiac monitors assigned and recognize and report rhythms/arrhythmias.
- Act as a communication liaison for the patient, family, and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Answer telephones and take and relay messages in a professional manner, accurately and promptly.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will also need to be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
