Position Title: Prevention Specialist

Role Summary: The Prevention Specialist is responsible for engaging with children and adolescents aged 6-17 to implement the Curriculum-Based Support Group (CBSG) Program. This role involves delivering educational sessions on substance use prevention, enhancing mental health awareness, and fostering positive social behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate the Curriculum-Based Support Group Program with small groups of students at various educational and community sites.
  2. Conduct informative presentations on alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention for diverse audiences.
  3. Evaluate potential issues, consult with relevant stakeholders, and provide necessary referrals.
  4. Assist in organizing community health fairs, assemblies, and other outreach events.
  5. Lead engaging activities that promote mental and behavioral well-being while nurturing relationships with supportive adults.
  6. Document all service activities and assist in program evaluation through participant assessments.
  7. Maintain positive relationships with educational institutions, shelters, and community partners.
  8. Collect and manage participant data, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  9. Act as a community liaison by participating in coalitions and networks.
  10. Support program managers in preparing reports and documentation as required.
  11. Engage in regular team and networking meetings.
  12. Contribute to community tobacco compliance initiatives.
  13. Ensure confidentiality of participant information and adhere to privacy policies.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

  3. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  4. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  6. Experience working with diverse populations and understanding trauma-informed care.
  7. Certification as an Advanced Certified Prevention Specialist (ACPS), Associate Prevention Specialist (APS), or Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) is preferred.

Working Conditions:
