Position Title: Prevention Specialist
Role Summary: The Prevention Specialist is responsible for engaging with children and adolescents aged 6-17 to implement the Curriculum-Based Support Group (CBSG) Program. This role involves delivering educational sessions on substance use prevention, enhancing mental health awareness, and fostering positive social behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the Curriculum-Based Support Group Program with small groups of students at various educational and community sites.
- Conduct informative presentations on alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention for diverse audiences.
- Evaluate potential issues, consult with relevant stakeholders, and provide necessary referrals.
- Assist in organizing community health fairs, assemblies, and other outreach events.
- Lead engaging activities that promote mental and behavioral well-being while nurturing relationships with supportive adults.
- Document all service activities and assist in program evaluation through participant assessments.
- Maintain positive relationships with educational institutions, shelters, and community partners.
- Collect and manage participant data, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Act as a community liaison by participating in coalitions and networks.
- Support program managers in preparing reports and documentation as required.
- Engage in regular team and networking meetings.
- Contribute to community tobacco compliance initiatives.
- Ensure confidentiality of participant information and adhere to privacy policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding trauma-informed care.
- Certification as an Advanced Certified Prevention Specialist (ACPS), Associate Prevention Specialist (APS), or Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Regular travel within the community for outreach and service delivery.
