Job Summary and Qualifications
The Emergency Department RN delivers direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Prioritize patient care based on acuity level and available resources.
  • Execute physician orders.
  • Assist physicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions as appropriate using computerized documentation systems.
  • Instruct and educate patients and their families.
  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge planning needs with healthcare team members.
  • Provide age and culturally appropriate care.
  • Orient and mentor new staff members.
  • Adhere to Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Qualifications:
Current Florida license as a Registered Nurse or recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements). Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. One to three years of ER experience is preferred.
