Diesel Mechanic Job Description

National Express LLC is committed to providing the highest level of transportation safety, quality transportation, and outstanding customer service. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire rotations.
  • Test-drive vehicles to ensure repairs are completed to a high standard.
  • Arrange for and obtain approval of major repairs before releasing vehicles from the maintenance facility.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all relevant Federal, State, and local guidelines.
  • Identify and report any additional maintenance or repairs required.
  • Record time spent, parts used, and repairs conducted on the appropriate form.
  • Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
  • Advises Lead Technician of unsafe maintenance conditions or practices and/or vehicle abuse.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of two to four years of experience as a Med/Hvy truck Fleet mechanic repair.
  • Diagnostic, Electrical, and AC skills are a must.
  • Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
  • Previous fleet experience and familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems.
  • Possess the recommended minimum Hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
  • Ability to use good judgment and Decision Making skills.
  • Valid applicable state license (CDL preferred).
