Job Title: Speech Pathologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Pathologist to join our team at Shenandoah County Public Schools.

Job Summary:

The Speech Pathologist will be responsible for evaluating and providing speech-language services to individuals who are eligible for speech-language impaired services. This includes conducting thorough speech and language evaluations, developing and maintaining students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and consulting with school faculty and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implement screening and referral procedures to identify students needing speech-language evaluation
  • Conduct thorough speech and language evaluations as part of the eligibility determination process
  • Develop and maintain students' IEPs, including determining appropriate goals, implementing therapy, and monitoring progress
  • Consult and collaborate with school faculty and staff to provide in-service education on topics relevant to communication development and impairment
  • Maintain confidentiality and take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities
  • Ensure awareness of deadlines for billing, eligibility, IEP completion, and progress reports
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must possess or qualify for licensure with the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Preferred qualifications include a Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA, proficiency in assessing students' communication skills, and knowledge of local, state, and national regulations relative to the speech-language impaired.
