Position Overview

We are looking for skilled and motivated candidates to fill the role of Environmental Senior Consultant or Managing Consultant specializing in land use permitting within our site solutions team. This role is pivotal in overseeing all facets of land use permitting, which encompasses:

  • Management of field surveys and wetland assessments
  • Assessment of permit applicability
  • Preparation of permit applications and environmental impact statements
  • Development of comprehensive permitting plans
  • Coordination and participation in client and agency meetings
  • Creation of essential permitting reports for diverse projects, including brownfields redevelopment and site remediation

Additionally, the role involves supporting site characterization and remedial action projects, addressing potential human and ecological risks associated with chemical exposure in various environmental media.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the drafting and review of local, state, and federal permitting documents, focusing on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection regulations
  • Facilitate client and agency discussions regarding land use permitting and remediation activities
  • Conduct analyses of remedial and permitting alternatives
  • Oversee field surveys and wetland assessments, ensuring quality deliverables
  • Develop both remedial and permitting site plans
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and written communications
  • Build and maintain client relationships, including project budgeting and proposal preparation
  • Mentor junior to mid-level staff in site investigation and land use permitting
  • Assist in regulatory negotiations and the evaluation of technical documents

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in engineering, environmental science, biology, natural resources, or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in land use permitting in New Jersey, with expertise in site investigation and remediation
  • Familiarity with NJDEP Site Remediation Program, PADEP Division of Site Remediation, and/or PADEP Land Recycling Program
  • Experience with NJDEP Division of Land Resource Protection and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proven project management skills, including budget and proposal preparation
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Wetland Delineation Certification is advantageous but not mandatory
