Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Property Controller, the Junior Accounting Specialist is responsible for facilitating daily operations by generating summary reports for daily financial data while ensuring that general ledger accounts are accurately reconciled.

Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will prepare management accounting reports, engage in special projects as required, and handle multiple tasks and projects efficiently.

To excel in this role, an individual must effectively manage the essential duties and responsibilities, which include:

  • Timely and precise recording of entry-level journal entries in alignment with the corporate closing schedule.
  • Conducting research and retrieving documentation to assist Senior Staff.
  • Accurate preparation of assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Thorough investigation of reconciling items, with exceptions reported to Senior Staff for review.
  • Managing cash collections and deposits.
  • Balancing daily reports and addressing discrepancies.
  • Performing daily bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Meeting with cash handling services.
  • Counting the main safe.
  • Gathering backup documentation for credit card disputes.
  • Executing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Must possess an Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting preferred) with a minimum of five years of experience in a month-end close general ledger environment.

Skills & Knowledge:
The candidate should demonstrate the ability to manage time effectively to meet financial reporting deadlines, be assertive and driven, possess excellent multitasking abilities, and have:

  • Entry-level knowledge of various accounting software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
