Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer to join our team at Anixter. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing automation solutions that drive business growth and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement automation strategies that enhance warehouse operations and material movement.
  • Lead the design and development of automation solutions, including digital and commercially available fulfillment systems.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and scopes of design to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Participate in simulation and emulation activities to validate automation system performance.
  • Work with the finance team to evaluate automation systems and justify capital expenditure requests.
  • Educate and train technology deployment and warehouse operations teams on automation system architecture, usability, and functionality.
  • Implement automation projects from design through production, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery.
  • Design holistic hardware and software solutions to address complex problems and meet fluid requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency through automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar position, with a proven track record of success.
  • Established background in Robotics or Mechatronic Systems.
  • CAD experience and understanding of best practices.
  • Proficiency with eCAD tools.
  • Hands-on experience crafting proof-of-concept models and prototypes.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively with teams.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and write technical documents.
  • Experience evaluating designs, performance, and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
