Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Safety and Health Specialist to join our team at Leidos. The successful candidate will provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee safety or occupational health program elements, including fall protection, electrical safety, confined space, and hazardous materials.
  • Analyze jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the risks to employees.
  • Perform complex technical hazard assessments, evaluating and analyzing laboratory data to develop hazard control options for asbestos exposures, mold growth, drinking water exceedances, confined spaces, or other similar health hazards.
  • Conduct workplace environmental/safety inspections and develop abatement plans to control identified hazards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in identifying and evaluating personal protective equipment needs.
  • Identify and evaluate safety training needs in areas such as fall protection, electrical safety, and hazardous materials.
  • Review project designs and identify safety concerns regarding asbestos, fall protection, electrical safety, and other work hazards.
  • Develop scopes of work for contract resources required to implement specific aspects of EOSH program operations.
  • Develop new occupational safety and health programs, policies, procedures, technical reports, briefing papers, and approaches to address broad, new compliance and certification problems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, such as Biology, with 4+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Or, a Master's degree in a similar field with at least 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass FAA security screening for positions of public trust.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration, teamwork, and risk management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form to individuals at different organizational levels.
  • Strong writing, time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, large engineering organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with different schedules and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • FAA experience or Military Aviation background highly desired.
  • Prior Safety consulting experience for FAA or other Federal agencies.
  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals with any of the following certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
