Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Hillcrest Family Services. This is a full-time position, and the salary for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Position:

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing specialized care to clients with mental health conditions. Your primary duties will include reviewing cases referred by therapists and/or other medical practitioners, performing initial evaluations and follow-up care for medication management clients, formulating diagnoses of acute and chronic diseases, and administering medications within the scope of your licensure. You will also provide education to patients and families around issues related to their diagnosis, illness, and treatment.

Responsibilities:
  • Review all cases referred to by therapists and/or other medical practitioners
  • Perform initial evaluations and follow-up care for medication management clients
  • Formulate diagnosis(es) of acute and chronic disease
  • Administer medications and other therapeutic means necessary to implement treatment within the scope of licensure
  • Provide education to patients and families around issues related to the patient's diagnosis, illness, and/or treatment

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have a graduate degree from an approved School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program, possessing theoretical knowledge and skills involved in delivering mental health care services. You must also be licensed in the state of Iowa and hold current DEA certification to prescribe medications.

Preferred Qualifications:

We prefer candidates with personal and professional skills relating to clients and other professionals, knowledge of concepts of public health delivery, moderate computer skills, previous experience with electronic health records, and substance abuse treatment experience.
