We are seeking a skilled Barista to join our team at SpartanNash. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing coffee shop beverages and food, operating a cash register, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare coffee shop beverages according to set standards, including brewing, mixing, and blending.
- Prepare food items according to procedures, ensuring they are handled safely and presented in a clean and appealing manner.
- Operate a cash register to process customer transactions, including handling cash, checks, credit cards, and gift certificates.
- Stock and rotate coffee items and merchandise displays to maintain a visually appealing store environment.
- Maintain knowledge of current store programs and product locations to provide accurate information to customers.
- Understand and operate check-stand equipment and coffee shop equipment efficiently.
- Notify department leads or managers when products and supplies need to be ordered.
- Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and well-stocked department, adhering to company safety and sanitation standards.
- Communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers, modeling high standards of service to achieve a customer-oriented store.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of retail or related experience preferred.
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
- Good customer service and organizational skills, with attention to detail and basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
The physical demands of this role include standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and moving up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The associate may be required to bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently. The work environment is typically a retail store with varied temperatures and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually low to moderate.
