Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychologist to join our team at Bexar County, TX. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing in-house psychological services to our law enforcement personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs to address the unique stressors and mental health effects of law enforcement work
  • Provide incident coordination and support for critical incidents, trauma interventions, and crisis management
  • Assess and provide guidance on mental health effects of officers and staff, as well as their families
  • Train officers on basic psychology and stress management techniques
  • Conduct on-site interviews and data collection to identify causes of specific issues
  • Develop and present training on stress reduction techniques, suicide intervention, and leadership development
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Psychology from an accredited college or university
  • Four years of experience in clinical psychology
  • Comprehensive knowledge of psychological principles, training, and application of behavioral science and mental health principles
  • Ability to represent the County in a professional and effective manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-Doctoral internship or fellowship in police psychology
  • Four years of supervised practice on-site under police psychologist or equivalent
  • Four years of field work or on-site experience working with critical incident teams
Working Environment and Physical Demands

The working conditions are primarily in an office within a jail environment with occasional exposure to irate or hostile individuals. The position requires frequent communication with others, ability to exchange accurate information, and occasional movement of items weighing up to 5-10 pounds.
