ROLE OVERVIEW: The Service Operations Technician is tasked with troubleshooting, maintaining, servicing, and repairing pump and support equipment efficiently and safely at customer job sites across Minnesota. We provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes 4 WEEKS of Paid Time Off (PTO) for hourly positions, health, dental, vision, investment savings plan, and various additional benefits. Xylem will also offer paid training for CDL upgrades if applicable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To succeed in this role, an individual must effectively perform each essential duty.

  • Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and servicing as directed on Godwin fleet equipment between each rental.
  • Troubleshoot diesel engine, electrical systems, and pump issues.
  • Rebuild diesel engines and pump components.
  • Assist customers and/or Xylem personnel in setting up pumping systems at customer job sites as required. Support in performing start-up duties and ensure resolution of any issues.
  • Perform initial inspections of Godwin fleet equipment for potential damages; diagnose damages; report findings to the Service Manager.
  • Test all repaired equipment for proper functionality and quality assurance.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on company vehicles and shop support equipment.
  • Utilize computer technology for diagnostic checks.
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation to assist customers after hours.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Engage in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of diesel experience or a combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the duties of the position.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose basic mechanical issues.
  • Capability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of pump station electrical controls and monitoring devices.
  • General skills in DC electric and circuit testing.
  • Familiarity with diesel engine component identification and location.
  • CDL Class B is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, co-workers, and managers, both verbally and in writing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role may involve frequent outdoor work, exposure to weather extremes, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), exposure to hazardous materials, and loud noise. Physical demands may include, but are not limited to, regular sitting, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Additionally, this position may require frequent travel to customer sites and on-call duties as a regular part of the job.

SALARY:

The estimated salary range for this position is $32.00 per hour. Starting pay is determined by various factors, including skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
