Nyx Docking Mechanism Senior Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to lead the design and development of the Nyx docking mechanism. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integration and delivery of the COTS mechanism for the first Nyx Earth iteration, acting as the main point of contact with the supplier.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the docking mechanism system requirements and specifications based on applicable Nyx spacecraft requirements and International Space Station docking requirements.
  • Generate the docking mechanism technology maturation and development plan, including resource allocation for engineering and hardware.
  • Design and develop the docking mechanism and associated hardware, aiming for a simple and lightweight design that takes full advantage of Nyx's GNC capabilities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate the docking mechanism into the overall Nyx design.
  • Drive design reviews, technical meetings, and problem-solving sessions to address engineering challenges and ensure design integrity.
  • Verify, validate, and qualify the docking system to ensure it meets all requirements and demonstrates robust docking performance.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4-10 years of experience in mechanical systems design, analysis, and testing of aerospace or space-related systems, with a focus on docking mechanisms.
  • Participation in previous visiting vehicle development is highly preferred.
