Salary Range: $79,000 to $83,000

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or related physical sciences.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in an environmental laboratory focusing on organic extractions and analyses.
  • Proficiency with LC/MS & GC/MS is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with PFAS EPA methods and extraction techniques is essential.
  • Experience with LIMS and other instrument operating software.
  • Understanding of Mass Spectrometry principles, procedures, and best practices in an environmental laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles, including EPA Drinking Water Regulations and the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).
  • Awareness of EPA quality assurance programs and NELAP compliance standards.
  • Adherence to GLP practices in the laboratory.
  • Self-motivated with strong critical thinking skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and assist the team with various GC/MS instrumentation techniques.
  • Versatile in performing a range of tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Extract and analyze bottled water products for PFAS analytes using the Triple Quadrupole LC/MS instrument.
  • Apply knowledge of PFAS methodologies (EPA 533 & EPA 537.1), instrumentation, and techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with TNI 2016 standards for PFAS analyses.
  • Act as a backup for EPA 524.2 & EPA 525.2 methods for VOCs and pesticide analyses.
  • Utilize LIMS (Sample Master) software for sample login and data analysis.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Follow established standard operating procedures and methods.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and conducting instrument maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate data records and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, reporting to the Director/Senior Organics Chemist.
  • Instrumentation training will be provided.
