Position Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist 3 is responsible for delivering exceptional care to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions, ensuring that services are provided efficiently and effectively throughout the healthcare continuum. This role involves conducting thorough assessments and implementing appropriate therapeutic interventions, including oxygen therapy and ventilator management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the Ventilator and Rounding protocols, collaborating with medical staff to evaluate patient cardiopulmonary status and aiming to minimize the duration of ventilator support and ICU stays.
2. Assess patients for signs of cardiopulmonary distress and administer treatments for conditions such as hypoxia and bronchospasm using suitable modalities like oxygen and bronchodilators.
3. Perform arterial blood gas sampling, analyze results, and provide recommendations for therapy adjustments.
4. Conduct non-invasive ventilation techniques, including BIPAP and CPAP.
5. Manage ventilator-dependent neonates and surgical patients.
6. Educate patients regarding their conditions and necessary changes to their home care to prevent readmissions.
7. Provide educational support to surgical patients.
8. Respond to emergency situations, including trauma alerts and codes, ensuring patient stabilization.
9. Safely transport patients requiring ventilatory support.
10. Accurately document patient services and enter charges into the system as per departmental standards.
11. Participate in mandatory training sessions and departmental meetings as required.
12. Assist in the onboarding and training of new staff members.
13. Adhere to all compliance and regulatory responsibilities associated with the role.
14. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent.
Required Credentials: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), CPR certification for Healthcare Providers, and proficiency in ventilator management for both adult and neonatal patients.
Experience: Minimum of one year in a clinical setting.
Working Conditions:
Manual: Requires significant manual dexterity and coordination.
Occupational: Involves considerable occupational hazards.
Physical Effort: Requires very heavy physical effort, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Physical Environment: Frequent exposure to various environmental factors, including odors and noise.
