The Chief Nursing Officer will oversee nursing services at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, a 247-bed Level II trauma center serving the west side of Chicago. This role is part of Loyola Medicine, which consists of three hospitals, including Loyola University Medical Center, MacNeal Hospital, and Gottlieb Memorial Hospital. The Trinity Health Illinois and Indiana region has a combined annual revenue of $2.4B and employs approximately 11,500 colleagues.
Gottlieb Memorial Hospital is on track to apply for ANCC Magnet designation in early 2025. The hospital offers a wide range of surgical and medical specialties, including a CARF-accredited rehabilitation unit, advanced surgical specialties provided by Loyola Medicine's academic providers, emergency services, metabolic and bariatric care, invasive cardiac care, and advanced diagnostic services. The hospital is deeply embedded in the Melrose Park community, providing wrap-around services such as a fitness center and daycare.
The position will be based in Melrose Park, IL, with a direct reporting relationship to the regional chief nurse executive for Trinity Health IL/IN and a matrixed reporting relationship to the hospital president. Relocation assistance is provided, and some travel is required.

Key Responsibilities:
This role will serve as a member of the Regional Health Ministry's senior leadership team, providing clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring, and evaluating safe, high-quality patient care across the continuum. The Chief Nursing Officer will advance clinical practice, regulatory interties, and patient care consistent with the ANA Scope of Practice and American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Standards.
The incumbent will participate in the administration of the Regional Health Ministry as a full member of the senior leadership team, including strategic planning, execution, change management, and organizational decision-making. They will develop and implement nursing's mission, vision, values, and strategic, short- and long-term goals and objectives, standards of care, and operating plans for patient care services.
The Chief Nursing Officer will collaborate with the senior leadership team in the development and implementation of operating and capital budgets. They will develop and implement ongoing measures/evaluation methods related to all dimensions of performance, including budget and productivity targets.
This role will ensure the recruitment, retention, development, succession planning for, and engagement of quality patient care associates and leadership. The Chief Nursing Officer will promote an environment of shared leadership and decision-making.
The incumbent will participate in evaluating, selecting, and integrating health care technology and information systems that support patient care. In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Quality Officer, and other senior/executive leaders, they will serve as a sponsor and develop and direct the implementation of effective evidence-based programs to measure, analyze, and continuously improve the safety and quality of all patient care services through empiric outcomes.
The Chief Nursing Officer will ensure compliance with all health care standards and requirements established by various licensing, regulatory, and accreditation bodies, including centers of clinical excellence and ANCC Magnet requirements.
This role will communicate on a regular basis with senior leaders, the medical staff, the board, and other identified stakeholders regarding patient safety, quality, patient loyalty, associate engagement, and physician satisfaction. The Chief Nursing Officer will participate in regional decision-making and workgroups, assuming leadership in implementing improvement changes within the Regional Health Ministry.
The incumbent will oversee the development and implementation of nursing models of care that lead to key quality, safety, experience, and colleague engagement outcomes while being a financial steward. They will ensure compliance with standards of oversight of the nursing workforce as governed by local, state, and federal entities.
The Chief Nursing Officer will maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health's Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
