Position Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care within the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. This role involves collaboration with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive healthcare delivery. The nurse will assess patient needs, develop care plans, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate outcomes in alignment with established healthcare standards and practices.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Adhere to the Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors of the organization.
  2. Utilize the nursing process to address the specific needs of patients across all care dimensions: biophysical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and discharge planning.
  3. Employ decision-making skills to prioritize patient care and address unit-based challenges.
  4. Engage in effective communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  5. Incorporate patient rights and nursing ethics into daily practice.
  6. Follow infection control protocols to minimize the risk of infections.
  7. Comply with the National Patient Safety Goals set by the Joint Commission.
  8. Delegate tasks to ancillary staff in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act.
  9. Maintain adherence to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics and the Standards of Nursing Practice.
  10. Support and promote the Professional Nursing Practice Model of the organization.
  11. Contribute to the advancement of the Magnet model.
  12. Participate in Performance Improvement initiatives.
  13. Complete all competency requirements and attend mandatory training sessions.
  14. Engage in staff meetings as required.
  15. Implement cost containment strategies.
  16. Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed.
  17. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  1. Graduate from an accredited nursing program with current registration.
  2. Baccalaureate in Nursing (BSN) is required for external RNs.
  3. Knowledge of current trends and practices in nursing and patient care.
  4. Preferred one year of acute care nursing experience.
  5. BLS certification is mandatory.
  6. ACLS certification is required for all RNs.
  7. PALS certification is necessary for RNs in specific departments.
  8. NRP certification is required for RNs in designated units.
  9. Successful completion of the Department and Unit Orientation Program is expected.
