Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Adler Pelzer USA is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to support the opening of our brand-new facility in the Roanoke, VA area.

Job Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will ensure compliance with regulations and company commitments to the safety and health of employees and best practices in the prevention of adverse environmental impacts. This role will also be responsible for developing programs to ensure compliance with applicable EHS regulations, completion of required EHS training, and acting as a primary liaison between third-party auditors, governmental organizations, internal auditors, and management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and implement EHS improvement projects at the site.
  • Identify regulatory issues and necessary compliance activities; implement measurement and reporting activities and the correct responsible party within the operating facility to carry out compliance reporting and monitoring activities.
  • Develop and implement EHS standards within the operating facilities, under the guidance of the corporate level policies and regulatory issues and ensure that standards are communicated and understood by responsible personnel involved.
  • Develop, implement, and at times conduct the required Training programs in support of EHS policy, procedure, and practice.
  • Interface and coordinate with Engineering, Operational Excellence, Purchasing, and Operations management to support and guide department initiatives in development of healthy, safe, and environmentally friendly processes, equipment, and work environments.
  • Develop and implement EHS audit and corrective action processes to ensure operations are within established policy, standards, and practices and support operations in development and implementation of identified corrective action.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in EHS, with experience in developing and implementing EHS programs, conducting training, and ensuring compliance with regulations. A bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant certifications (e.g., CIH, CSP) are preferred. The salary range for this position is between $65,000 - $85,000, based on experience and education.
