Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Tohono O'odham Nation Healthcare. As a LPN, you will provide direct patient care services to the Inpatient Unit, working closely with our multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care services, including administering medications, performing various medical procedures, and monitoring patient vital signs.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and develop plans to address these needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Perform various medical procedures, including EKGs, blood draws, and wound care.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, including quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an accredited program in Practical Nursing or completion of a two-year degree program from an accredited community college, college, or university in practical nursing.
  • One (1) year of work experience in the medical inpatient unit, or equivalent.
  • Current license and registration as a licensed practical nurse in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth, or Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Current healthcare Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
  • Intravenous Therapy (IV) certification.
  • Current immunization statement to include proof of a non-reactive tuberculosis skin test within the last year, proof of immunity for hepatitis B (Documentation of immunization does not prove immunity only a titer with a positive result is proof), within three months of hire.
  • Upon recommendation for hire, a criminal background and a National FBI fingerprint check are required to determine suitability for employment, including a 39-month driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations, and requirements, including HCFA Medicare, ALTCS, and AHCCCS.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory and practice as a Practical Nurse with broad work experience demonstrates skill sufficient to resolve a range of problems.
  • Practical knowledge of and skill sufficient to understand nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Practical knowledge of pharmacology and skill sufficient to administers prescribed medication.
