Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Correctional Officer to join our team at the Augusta State Medical Prison. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our facilities and ensuring the well-being of our offenders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain custody and security of prisoners and other incarcerated offenders
  • Enforce institutional policies, rules, and regulations
  • Escort offenders in transit and during temporary leaves
  • Guard facility entrances and screen visitors
  • Train and handle canines for tracking, search and rescue, and guard duty
  • Inspect and maintain physical control of keys, tools, and equipment
  • Oversee offenders during work assignments, meals, and recreation periods
  • Patrol assigned areas and report any problems
  • Prepare reports and respond to emergencies
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a high school diploma or GED and any combination of training and experience that enables you to meet the minimum standards of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.).
