Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our culinary team at The Garlands of Barrington. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals that meet and exceed the expectations of our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare ingredients and cook meals according to the Executive Chef's instructions.
  • Ensure the quality, presentation, and temperature of food meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment used in food preparation.
  • Provide input on menu suggestions based on available ingredients.
  • Prepare food, equipment, and materials for special events.
  • Assist with managing inventory and communicating supply levels to team members.
  • Check in food deliveries and ensure all food materials are stored properly.
Requirements
  • Three years of cooking experience in cold and hot foods, sauté, or other area of expertise.
  • Culinary degree and sanitation license preferred.
  • Ability to maintain calm in stressful situations.
  • Well-organized with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities and changing priorities.
  • Team-oriented individual with excellent communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to take initiative and complete responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand continuously.
  • Ability to handle sharp objects and tolerate varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
