Position Overview
We are in search of a proficient Construction Manager to oversee the execution of telecommunications and wireless infrastructure projects. This role encompasses vendor selection, on-site leadership, and collaboration with subcontractors, OEM installers, and client representatives. The Construction Manager will serve as the authority on construction matters pertaining to the development and modification of towers, collocation, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and small cell projects, including in-building iDAS and public right-of-way oDAS & Small Cells, as well as related inside and outside plant construction techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance and influence decisions for District and/or Program and Project Managers regarding all construction activities.
- Engage actively in the vendor selection process and provide informed recommendations.
- Participate in deployment and customer meetings as a subject matter expert.
- Foster customer relationships to encourage service work awards to the company.
- Conduct regular site inspections throughout construction phases, including bid walks, pre-construction assessments, progress visits, punch walks, and project closeout.
- Direct general contractors during groundwork activities.
- Ensure competitive pricing for quality workmanship, negotiate costs within project parameters, and hold vendors accountable for budget adherence.
- Address on-site challenges and provide recommendations based on urgency and necessity.
- Guarantee compliance with company construction standards, processes, and protocols.
- Maintain thorough and accurate project documentation and ensure timely distribution of closeout materials in line with corporate and client standards.
- Ensure job accuracy within the project tracking system.
- Act as a safety observer and Quality Assurance representative, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and workmanship standards.
Education and Certifications
- High School diploma is required.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
Experience and Minimum Requirements
- At least three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or wireless construction.
- Familiarity with Outside Plant Construction methods (both aerial and underground) for Small Cell Solutions (SCS).
- Knowledge of testing equipment and techniques for RF Sweep tests, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), Power Meter, and Passive Intermodulation (PIM) testing for SCS.
- Understanding of NESC, NEC, and OSHA regulations.
Additional Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in budget formulation and management.
- Comprehensive understanding of the construction management process.
- Knowledge of site acquisition protocols, including regulatory and permitting requirements.
- Ability to interpret and analyze blueprints.
- Capability to identify workflow issues, determine critical paths, and implement solutions.
- Strong customer service focus with a problem-solving mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and project management software.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this contract position ranges from $40 to $50 per hour, based on experience. Our pay structure is determined by role, level, and geographical location, ensuring fair compensation based on individual skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
