Job Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant performs services planned, delegated, and supervised by the Physical Therapist. The primary goal is to assist patients in preventing disability and promoting their recovery program following disease, injury, surgery, or loss of a body part. In accordance with Physical Therapy Department policies and procedures, the PTA provides care using established treatment techniques and adheres to discipline-specific designated practice acts. This role involves providing services to patients under physician orders, fostering a constructive and supportive approach to department operations, and promoting professional and cordial relationships.

Education and Experience: An Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited education program and passing the Physical Therapy Exam approved by the Physical Therapy Board of California are required. A minimum of one year of recent experience in an acute care or rehabilitation facility is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care according to Physical Therapy Department policies and procedures.
  • Assist patients in achieving their recovery goals.
  • Foster a constructive and supportive work environment.
  • Promote professional and cordial relationships with team members, patients, and caregivers.
  • Understand economic constraints and practice resource conservation.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of documentation requirements for regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, Medicare/Medi-Cal, and Primary Insurance regulations.
  • Fluent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to operate required equipment, assessment tools, and office software.
  • Good communication skills with team members, patients, and caregivers.
  • Cooperate with management and other associates in achieving organizational and department goals.
  • Consistently demonstrate constructive interpersonal skills.

Licensures and Certifications: Current License from the Physical Therapy Board of California and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required, depending on the department hired for.
