Job Summary: As an Apheresis Nurse, you will be responsible for performing therapeutic apheresis procedures, assessing patient status, and coordinating with physicians and nurses to ensure safe and effective care. You will also assemble and maintain equipment and supplies to maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform therapeutic apheresis procedures, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, platelet, and white cell reduction, photopheresis, and hematopoietic progenitor cell collection
- Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis, utilizing the nursing process, laboratory testing results, and other clinically significant procedures
- Coordinate closely with physicians and nurses at various hospitals to arrange therapeutic apheresis treatments and facilitate coordinated care
- Assemble, restock, QC, and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
- Two years' experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing, or related experience
- Previous apheresis or dialysis experience preferred
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
