Job Overview

Laboratory Technician/Assistant

R C Goodwin and Associates, Inc. is seeking applications for a Temporary Laboratory Technician position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and managing the post-field processing of collections, which includes checking in artifacts, cleaning, bagging, and labeling items for curation;
  • Conducting basic sorting of artifacts;
  • Systematically organizing and digitizing field records;

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Capturing photographs of artifacts for inclusion in reports and other publications;
  • Providing assistance with basic data entry tasks;
  • Engaging in fundamental artifact identification.

This role is primarily office/laboratory-based and requires the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods. Candidates may need to lift heavy items, such as artifact boxes, and perform repetitive tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A keen interest in archaeology, especially in laboratory work;
  • A willingness to expand knowledge about archaeological practices and laboratory processes;
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently;
  • A valid Driver's License.

This is a temporary, hourly position with a starting pay rate of $19/hour. Weekly hours will fluctuate based on workload.
