Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during operations, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, adhering to strict sterile and aseptic techniques.
  • Monitor and maintain aseptic conditions throughout the operating room, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
  • Collaborate with the perioperative team to ensure efficient and effective patient care, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of best practices and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care and surgical procedures, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician Program.
  • Eligibility to sit for the LCC-ST certifying examination.
  • One (1) year of related experience preferred.
  • Certification as an Operating Room Technician (LCC-ST) plus one (1) year of related experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Constant walking, bending, stooping, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Pushing and pulling of heavy objects, such as gurneys, patient beds, and OR beds.
  • Must maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance.
  • Must have understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with physicians and fellow workers.
  • Must pay attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Must be self-motivated and work in an efficient and effective manner.

Credentials

  • Certified Surgical Technician certification.
  • CPR certification.
