The role of a "B" Level Service Technician involves comprehending and executing standard repairs required for customer vehicles. This position entails performing general repairs and diagnostics with some guidance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, light engine repairs, transmission work, clutch replacements, drive shaft repairs, electrical system troubleshooting (including starters and alternators), HVAC system maintenance, and steering and suspension repairs. A majority of manufacturer certifications are expected for this role.

  • Accurately utilize the multi-point inspection form for each vehicle.
  • Document all performed and recommended work on the assigned repair order.
  • Communicate with the service advisor regarding any additional work needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
  • Maintain technician proficiency as per Asbury standards.
  • Conduct road tests to assess necessary work and confirm successful completion of repairs when feasible.
  • Execute all levels of diagnosis and repair on vehicles.
  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance services.
  • Engage in product and technical training as directed by management and manufacturers.
  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs to continually enhance your knowledge of emerging technologies.
  • Maintain the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) at or above the specified goals for service.
  • Complete all necessary documentation for warranty repair orders and claims.
  • Report any conditions that may jeopardize the safety or integrity of the dealership, customers, or employees.
  • Ensure that customer vehicles are returned in the same condition as prior to service.
  • Comply with required training for adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Abide by all applicable laws and company policies regarding the safeguarding of customer vehicles and information.
  • ASE certifications are highly preferred.
  • Manufacturer certifications are strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience as an automotive technician is required.
  • Basic tools are necessary.
  • Strong technical and mechanical skills are essential.
  • Must be a collaborative team player with the ability to handle complex tasks repetitively.
  • Minimum age requirement is eighteen years.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screening, including background and drug tests.
