Job Title: Conservation Reserve Program Specialist

Buffalo Horse Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Conservation Reserve Program Specialist to support a key customer within the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS).

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work independently to develop, implement, and maintain conservation plans that meet the needs of landowners and the USDA-NRCS. This role requires strong communication and technical skills to explain conservation programs and practices to landowners and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement conservation plans that meet the needs of landowners and the USDA-NRCS
  • Explain conservation programs and practices to landowners and other stakeholders
  • Assist in the evaluation of the implementation of conservation plans and their alternatives
  • Work with landowners on the application and maintenance of conservation practices
  • Conduct field investigations, surveys, and data assembly to develop conservation practices
  • Inspect proposed sites, determine need and feasibility of conservation practices, and advise on on-site selections
  • Provide information to farmers, ranchers, and other rural residents on the types of assistance available from the USDA-NRCS and other agencies

Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a public trust background investigation
  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of specialized experience and knowledge associated with natural resources
  • Practical experience assisting in providing routine technical support in soil conservation
