Job Description

The Project Manager will oversee the development of complex projects, ensuring adherence to predetermined conditions (cost, quality, safety, timelines). They will participate in defining project specifications, planning implementation, and creating budgets. The Project Manager will coordinate the work of various participants, ensuring that development methods, timelines, and costs are observed throughout each phase. As a primary contact for clients, they will ensure that contracted services are provided in a timely and professional manner. The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall success of all assigned projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify unanticipated tasks that may increase project costs or delay meeting assigned schedules.
  • Monitor project progress, interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
  • Establish project budgets, track actual expenditures against forecasted expenditures, and implement corrective action as needed. Prepare cost-to-complete estimates to determine whether the project can be completed within the assigned budget.
  • Ensure adherence to internal project quality assurance procedures.
  • Apply a thorough knowledge of current engineering principles and practices related to various aspects affecting the firm.
  • Supervise a staff of engineers and technicians.
  • Plan, schedule, or coordinate the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects.
  • Responsibilities may include marketing, budgeting, financial management, schedule coordination, and resource allocation.
  • Perform preliminary engineering design and/or review the design and drafting work of staff or project engineers, CAD operators.
  • Coordinate work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff.
  • Assist in company-wide business development in all disciplines of the firm's practice.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey or New York.
  • Possess 8+ years of engineering management experience.
  • Proven ability to identify, develop, and mentor talent.
  • Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Effectively manage projects from concept through completion.
  • Proven leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Establish a vision and create an environment for excellence.
  • Demonstrated record of ethics and high standards.

Strong technical writing, communication skills, and interpersonal skills are expected at this level, proven through technical presentations, technical papers, and/or participation in technical committees.
