Position Overview

We provide students with the tools to conduct research on local issues while offering essential academic support, including tutoring, homework assistance, and college preparatory education. Role Summary

The Academic and Career Services Coordinator (ACSC) plays a vital role in establishing meaningful connections with students, enabling them to set and achieve personal and academic objectives. A primary goal of this position is to assist students in graduating from high school and transitioning to college or career pathways. The ACSC will focus on individual skills development, support with college applications, and referrals for additional personal and academic resources.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction and Mentorship

  • Participate in curriculum and program training sessions.
  • Deliver YMP curriculum as needed.
  • Facilitate college and career readiness lessons throughout the academic year.
  • Collaborate with students to create individualized academic plans and monitor their progress.
  • Guide students through financial aid processes and college/trade school applications.

Student Engagement and Support

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students.
  • Organize meetings with students, counselors, teachers, and parents.
  • Support academic intervention initiatives.
  • Collaborate with on-campus staff and administrators to enhance student support.
  • Plan college visits, program activities, and retreats in partnership with the Program & Curriculum Coach.
  • Connect students with SAT/ACT preparation resources.
  • Facilitate college application workshops and assist seniors with their applications.
  • Maintain relationships with school counselors.

Data Management

  • Utilize SJLI's online database for data management.
  • Collect and input student data from various sources accurately.
  • Generate site data reports and monthly performance summaries.
