We are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Specialist - Cardiac Rehabilitation to join our team at FirstHealth of the Carolinas. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing individualized exercise prescriptions for cardiac rehabilitation patients, working closely with our medical director to ensure the highest level of care.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement individualized exercise prescriptions for cardiac rehabilitation patients, taking into account their medical diagnosis and clinical status.
- Update exercise prescriptions on a weekly basis, based on patient responses and clinical status.
- Perform physical examinations of the cardiovascular system, including HR, BP, palpation, and inspection for edema, redness, etc.
- Inspect surgical wounds and report significant and accurate data to the appropriate personnel.
- Develop risk factor profiles and CVD risk reduction strategies for patients.
- Perform basic tests, including B/P, ECG telemetry, 12-lead ECG, pulse oximetry, blood glucose, and interpretation of blood lipids.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans, taking into account patient preferences and goals.
- Revised exercise plans based on patient outcomes.
- Develop discharge plans, including intensity, duration, and frequency of exercise, involving all aspects of patient care.
- Maintain records of pertinent information obtained during patient sessions and identify clinical significance of data.
- Accurately interpret EKG and blood pressure responses in patients during exercise therapy, reporting deviations from expected ranges.
- Provide individual and group educational classes on illness, treatment plans, and disease management.
- Engage in interactive communication and counseling with patients and families on treatment plans through shared decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology or equivalent in a related health field.
- Masters degree preferred.
- Certification, experience, and training equivalent to those supervised for an exercise specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine.
- Certified in BCLS.
- Minimum of two years experience in the field of cardiac rehabilitation, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
