Mental Health Therapist

About the Role:

Fully licensed therapists at Mood Treatment Center conduct diagnostic assessments and therapy for a diverse range of ages, from children to older adults. Initial assessments and therapy are offered in HIPAA-compliant telemedicine and in-person formats. Therapists manage crisis intervention while providing psychoeducation and referrals as needed. A 75% caseload of total hours worked is maintained. Additionally, therapists can choose from consultation groups to develop knowledge and skills. Regular practice-wide and office-specific meetings are also attended. All services are provided in accordance with North Carolina state law and professional ethics and boundaries.

Key Responsibilities:


• Conduct initial assessments to gather psychosocial and mental health history


• Assess patients' emotional and mental health, developing treatment plans accordingly


• Intervene with emergency care techniques and protocols when patients are in crisis


• Provide evidence-based services within the scope of practice


• Provide referrals for additional care or services


• Maintain confidential notes/records using Mood Treatment Center's electronic medical records


• Responsible for carrying a clinical caseload, either online via Electronic Medical Record's Telehealth platform or face to face at our organization, while maintaining required productivity levels


• Complete and sign therapy notes within 48 hours of appointments and sign charge slips day-of treatment


• Consult with internal and external community providers concerning treatment


• Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:


• Extensive knowledge of mental health conditions and best practices for psychological treatment


• Well-developed listening and interview skills


• Strong oral communication skills


• Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective treatment plans


• Organization skills to maintain up-to-date, easy-to-navigate patient files


• Familiarity with privacy, health, and safety laws


• Computer skills to operate record-keeping, scheduling, email, and word processing software

Education and Experience:


• Professional License in good standing with the state of North Carolina (LCP or LCSW)


• Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field
