About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Track Design Engineer III to join our team at HNTB. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for the production and modification of track design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with project managers to perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery.
  • Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Leverage technical knowledge and experience to address design-related issues or concerns, interactions with clients, and completing tasks to meet project schedules.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed track designs and calculations to support project completion using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software.
  • Support transit and railroad projects at all stages from conceptual study and alternative analysis to final design and construction-related services.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, and/or AutoCad.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles.
  • Ability to manage time, proactively forecast, and communicate project development needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline).
