Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Oncology Data Specialist to join our team at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. As a key member of our cancer registry team, you will be responsible for abstracting cancer cases to meet American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACOS) and Florida Cancer Data Systems (FCDS) requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a computerized master file and accession register.
  • Perform a variety of duties involved in the organization, oversight, and documentation of a cancer registry in an ACOS accredited program.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare-related position.
  • National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) credential within twenty-four (24) months of hire/promotion date.
  • Active Florida Cancer Data System Abstractors Code.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Human Anatomy & Physiology and medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of all functions of a Cancer Registry.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and keep current on ongoing projects and time restraints.
  • Computer experience with Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office System.
Education:
  • High School Diploma, GED or Certificate.
  • Associate of Science degree preferred.
