Position Overview

The Town of Stallings is in search of a dedicated and proficient Planning Technician. This role encompasses a range of specialized administrative, customer service, record-keeping, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) responsibilities that support the planning and permitting functions of the municipality.

The individual in this position will:

  • Provide essential information to developers, contractors, and homeowners regarding zoning regulations, signage, demolition, and various permit processes.
  • Review and interpret relevant municipal ordinances to assist clients in acquiring the necessary permits.
  • Receive and route applications, collect applicable fees, issue approved permits, and schedule compliance inspections.
  • Maintain a comprehensive tracking system for permits.

Additionally, the role involves engaging with the public, clarifying requirements, establishing both electronic and physical records, addressing complaints, preparing reports, and performing other administrative tasks.

This position requires significant public interaction and demands a high level of tact, courtesy, and firmness, along with the ability to convey technical information to individuals without a technical background.

Supervision will be provided by the Planning and Zoning Director, with performance evaluations based on observation, meetings, quality of work produced, and feedback from the community.
