About the Role

The Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) is seeking skilled Registered Nurses to provide high-quality patient care to marginalized and underserved individuals in correctional facilities. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in delivering evidence-based care, comprehensive patient education, and serving as a healthcare advocate for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, care planning, medication administration, and treatment provision in accordance with ODOC policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate patient care by scheduling services on-site and community-based services to ensure optimal patient health outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient education and advocate for patient care needs.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of patient care, including documentation of requests for medical attention, objective data collected during patient care, treatment provided, and patient education.
  • Assume responsibility for the operations of the unit in the absence of management staff and evaluate and monitor medical supplies to ensure availability and accurate accounting.

Requirements

Possess a valid Oregon Registered Professional Nurse's License at the time of appointment. Preference given to candidates with an unencumbered license.
