Dental Hygienist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Hygienist to join our vibrant team at Smile Quest Dental in Rocklin, California.

As a Dental Hygienist at Smile Quest Dental, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and promoting oral health in our community. Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing comprehensive assessments of patients' oral health status, including examining the teeth, gums, and soft tissues, as well as evaluating oral hygiene practices and risk factors for dental diseases.
• Conducting professional dental cleanings (prophylaxis) to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from the teeth, using specialized instruments and techniques to clean above and below the gumline and polish the teeth for a smooth finish.
• Providing non-surgical periodontal therapy, including scaling and root planing, to treat gum disease and promote periodontal health, monitoring and documenting periodontal measurements to track the progress of treatment.
• Taking dental radiographs (X-rays) as part of the diagnostic process, following established protocols and safety guidelines, and interpreting radiographic images to identify dental caries, periodontal disease, and other oral conditions.
• Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and interdental cleaning techniques, providing personalized recommendations for oral care products and preventive measures to maintain optimal oral health.
• Offering guidance on the relationship between diet and oral health, including the effects of nutrition on dental caries, periodontal disease, and overall well-being, encouraging healthy eating habits that support oral health.
• Assisting patients in quitting tobacco use by providing information, resources, and support for smoking cessation, educating patients about the harmful effects of tobacco on oral health and overall health.
• Conducting oral cancer screenings during routine dental examinations to detect signs of oral cancer or precancerous lesions, referring patients for further evaluation and treatment if abnormalities are identified.
• Applying dental sealants to the occlusal surfaces of permanent molars to prevent dental caries, evaluating the need for sealants based on individual risk factors and providing appropriate recommendations.
• Administering fluoride treatments to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent tooth decay, offering fluoride varnish applications or other fluoride products based on patients' age, risk factors, and treatment needs.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, including clinical notes, treatment plans, and radiographic findings, documenting assessments, interventions, and patient education efforts in accordance with legal and professional standards.
• Collaborating with dentists and other members of the dental team to develop comprehensive treatment plans and coordinate care for patients, communicating findings, recommendations, and referrals effectively to ensure continuity of care.
